about us
The Mitchell Family Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that was established in 1998 with the aim of providing support to disadvantaged individuals and communities, in our local community of Denver, Colorado, and in Asia, primarily in India and Nepal. The foundation is committed to improving the lives of those in need through various programs and initiatives, including education, healthcare, and community development projects. In addition to its work in South Asia, the Mitchell Family Foundation also provides assistance to students in the United States through its scholarship program.

What We do
Primarily funded by Bruce and Martha Mitchell, the foundation seeks to provide basic elements which are required to have a decent life: food, housing and education. A spiritual Guru once said, “You cannot inspire a person to seek the higher truths if his stomach is empty.” This has provided the motivational impetus for the majority of the works funded by the MFF, although we also support animals (African elephants among others), certain spiritual hosts, and help with college stipends for students engaged in spiritually-oriented areas of study.
“We are honored to be in a position to assist others as they find their way in life. No one is immune from tough times, and we hope the little bit of support we provide always finds a true way to help.”

SanDwich Seva
The primary activity for the MFF from 2008-2020 was the “sandwich seva” (seva is a Sanskrit word meaning “selfless service”) every Thursday in conjunction with Shiva Sai Mandir, 1390 S. Pennsylvania St., Denver, in which approximately 140 sack lunches were distributed each week to the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, Emerson St. Senior Center, and other metro locations. We provided over 85,000 meals to the homeless through this initiative. This endeavor was ended with the Covid Pandemic in 2020, and Bruce and Martha Mitchell moved out of the area. They have since begun to serve others in a different part of the state.
